We take pride in being part of the art community, encouraging and supporting local artists. We rotate artists on or about the first of each month.
This show spins off my interest in percussion, my old high-school drum set and a few different media techniques. One of those techniques involves collaging with rice papers. As I made some of the paper artwork it sparked memories of the work of Paul Horiuchi, a mid-century artist in Seattle who did a lot of beautiful abstract work with those materials. I’ve invoked his name in a couple of these new works, including the title piece, ‘Horiuchi’s High Hat’.
More of my work, large and small, can be found on my website, recently retooled: williamsonstudioseattle.com
