These paintings were influenced during my daily bicycle commutes in the summer of 2015. Things come into sharper view when riding, exposing the rich historic layers hidden alongside the booming construction that’s altering Seattle. Timeworn buildings, abandoned cars and quiet intersections all contribute to the City's personality and are all at risk of being swept away.

This collection was painted in gouache, an opaque watercolor that can be reactivated and reworked with water. To me the transitory potential of the medium underscores the tenuous future of the subjects.
